Portfolio 2nd Semester: Research and Exploration

The development of this project from the ground up forced many important "green" systems to be used. However, the priority of the use of materials was focused on how to reuse many of the components in a responsible way. This policy lead to choices that would limit the amount of CFC which would be generated by all phase of building design and subsequent further use. It was a focus to provide energy by which the occupants and visitors could be apart of the that system effort as well as those who designed the center. The use of system was prioritized for the use of which system woudl 1) be the least intrusive on the buildng form, 2) low maintenance , 3)highest output per initial cost, and use the lesat cfc in cnostruction and opeation.

Another important aspect of the building was the research into a structural systems. The first floor exhibit space presented the need for spanning long open spaces while at the same time not feel confined or energy inefficient. Therefore, it was found that the cable stayed space frame system would provide adequate span over the 48 foot of open space and also provide the necessary light and , least confining, for a space that could serve as a beacon for the use and occupancy that would be recognized by all who passed by.
